How do I reformat My PC?

This is a question I get all to often. If your PC was Manufactured by CyberPro Computers the answer is very easy. You have 2 options at this point. You can call us and we can do it for you or you can do it yourself. I highly recommend doing it yourself. The procedure is easy but time consuming. If you are not adventurous Call us We will do it for you! If you want to learn about your PC and have several hours to dedicate, by all means do it yourself!

First you must have in hand your 2 CD's that were provided with your machine. One will be your Microsoft Operating System CD. It is very easy to recognize. It will say Microsoft on it and have a Hologram to show its authenticity. We always provide you with your own copy of your Operating System! The other CD you need is your CyberPro System Driver CD. It will be a white Background with CyberPro Imprinted on its face. Now that you have your CD's in Hand you are ready to proceed.

1. Start your PC by pushing the power button and as soon as you do begin tapping on the keyboard key that says Delete! This will bring you to a blue background screen with White Print that is called your Bios Setup Screen.

2. In your bios setup find your tab across the top that says Boot Menu or look in the screens that are available to you until you find a screen that lists the Boot Sequence of your machine. In other words this is the command area of the PC that tells it to start up with your Hard Drive. It will be set to boot to "C" drive. At this point we need to change that to boot to your CD Drive.

3. After changing the boot sequence to your CD drive you will need to place your Microsoft Operating system CD in your CD drive. After placing the Operating system in the CD Drive close the drawer and exit the bios by hitting the escape key on your keyboard. You will be asked if you want to save the changes made and of course at this point YES you do want to save the changes.

4. After leaving the bios if you have done everything properly the machine will reboot and if you selected the proper drive the Microsoft CD will take over. Depending on your operating system you will be asked a series of questions that you need to answer. Make sure if it asks you if you want to do a repair or clean install to select "clean install"! If it asks you to reformat the hard drive it is OK to select quick format! If it asks you if you want to delete the existing partition it is Ok to delete it but you will have to recreate a new partition.

5. Now sit back and let the CD do its job. Answer what ever questions it throws at you and after a period of time that varies depending on many factors it will eventually finish!

6. Once it finishes reverse the steps at the beginning of this article and reset your bios to boot to the Hard Drive!

7. The machine will restart and depending on your operating system once the machine restarts in Windows you will need to insert your CyberPro System Driver CD. This CD will auto start and will show you what items need to be installed. Just check the boxes that appear and click on the Start button on the box in your screen. Leave the CD in the tray and the machine will automatically shut down and restart until all items have been installed.

8. Once the CyberPro CD has quit installing drivers you are now complete. The machine will be just like it was when you purchased it! Unfortunately you will have lost everything that was in the machine prior but if you do Backups of your important information it is quite easily restored!

PLEASE REMEMBER REFORMATTING LOOSES ALL INFORMATION THAT YOU PLACED IN YOUR PC. EVERYTHING WILL NEED TO BE REINSTALLED. HAVE YOUR EMAIL INFORMATION HANDY BEFORE STARTING THIS PROCESS. THIS INCLUDES YOUR SMTP AND POP3 SERVERS. ALSO YOUR USER NAME AND PASSWORD. YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO USE YOUR EMAIL WITHOUT THIS INFORMATION. IF YOU HAVE NOT WRITTEN IT DOWN AND SAVED IT YOU WILL NEED TO CONTACT YOUR INTERNET SERVICE PROVIDER FOR THIS INFORMATION!
